The Jefferson Township Police Department presented its free annual National Night Out event on Tuesday, July 31, at the municipal complex on Weldon Road.

The event brought together the police department, fire department, emergency medical personnel, Boy Scouts, Junior Woman’s Club, and others. The groups presented their organizations and educated residents on their services, helping to foster an overall sense of community.

Members of the police and fire departments demonstrated some of their training exercises. These included a blindfolded drill performed by the fire department and shooting demonstrations at the gun range by the police department.

Also present were several Junior Police, Junior Fire, EMS cadets, and new recruits for the fire department.

Music supplied by a DJ created a festive atmosphere as hot dogs and ice cream fed the masses. A climbing wall, bounce house, basketball game, and petting zoo kept children busy and entertained.

The mingling of generations contributed to a strong sense of community spirit – a perfect way to wrap up July.
