It has certainly been an eventful few days for the members of JTFD1. At about 12:30 PM on Saturday, August 29, JTFD1 was dispatched to Green Pond Road in the area of Deerhaven Lane for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Upon arrival, crews found a single vehicle that struck a pole sideways on the driver side with a single male occupant. The area of impact, and position of the patient made for an extremely challenging extrication. Medevac was unable to fly due to poor weather conditions. Prolonged operations were necessary, but the patient was successfully extricated and transported to the hospital by the Milton First Aid Squad. Units on scene were JTFD1 Engine 727, Rescue 725, JTFD2 Engine 718, Rescue 719, 2 ambulances from Milton FAS, Altlantic Health ALS, and JTPD. Special thanks to Jefferson Township Administration for funding our rescue tools and vehicles so we have up to date equipment to make these situations go as smooth as possible.
At about 12:34 AM on September 3, JTFD1 was dispatched to Mirror Place for the report of a working fire in the garage of a residential structure. Upon arrival, we were informed that the bulk of the fire was knocked down by the homeowners. Crews from JTFD1 conducted smoke removal from the main structure and overhaul of the contents of the garage. A thermal imaging camera (TIC) was used to search for hot spots and possible fire extension. All occupants were able to evacuate safely. Units on scene were JTFD1 Engine 722, Engine 727, Tanker 723, Ladder 728 and 2 ambulances from Milton FAS, and JTPD.
JTFD1 is a 100% volunteer organization and is always looking for new members. Interested in joining? Feel free to stop by the Milton Road Main Firehouse on any Tuesday night after 7:30 pm.
